M.D. Forte products are distributed through physicians and should be used under proper physician supervision. M.D. Forte is a comprehensive alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) skin care system which are result of combining glycolic acid with the process of partial neutralization. This results in higher concentration of glycolic acid plus a pH much closer to that of a normal skin. M.D. Forte offers several non-AHA based products for more sensitive skin.

Designed with a unique scientific approach to alpha-hydroxy acid also known as AHA treatment treatment, MD Forte turn expectations into results through a 4-step process - cleanse, renew, hydrate, protect. Thus, delivering a daily regiment that can diminish the signs and symptoms of aged skin. MD Forte products are offered in three strength levels based on the percentage of glycolic acid they contain. Level I products contain less glycolic acid and level III products contain the most. It is recommended to start treatments at Level I, especially if this is your first experience with AHA based products.

What are AHAs?

AHAs, or alpha-hydroxy acids, are elements that are found naturally in fruits and other foods. AHAs help make skin younger and healthier looking by helping the skin retain moisture by strengthening bond between skin cells and by facilitating exfoliation or the removal of dead skin. There are five types of AHAs: lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, and glycolic acid. MD Forte skin care products use glycolic acid because it has the smallest molecular size and weight. This means better penetration into the skin and better results.

What is Glycolic Acid?

Glycolic acid, naturally found in sugar cane and other foods, is an alpha-hydroxy acid, one that is especially effective and valued for its skin care properties. Featuring the smallest molecular size and weight of any of the AHAs, it can very efficiently penetrate into the skin. Glycolic acid produces a number of valuable benefits. It helps the skin shed or exfoliate dead skin cells, improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by aging. Furthermore, it increases the skin's moisture content.

Partial Neutralization

The glycolic acid in MD Forte skin care products is what produces great results. However, introducing any type of AHA to the skin can cause irritation. The process of partial neutralization allows glycolic acid to be released over an extended period of time, thus resulting in effective skin care without the irritation. Partial neutralization is a method commonly used to formulate AHAs, whereby the acid is combined with a lesser amount of base to yield unneutralized acid plus its salt. After esterifcation, no acid remains, so it is not available to the skin, and since ester molecules are larger than glycolic acid modules, ester may not penetrate the skin as easily or as effectively. Partially neutralized formulations deliver higher concentrations of free acid while reducing the potential for irritation and they ensure that a reservoir of acid is available for second-phase penetration. The resultant products are especially beneficial for skin rejuvenation. The partial neutralization process used in MD Forte products creats a reservoir of molecules for extended time release of AHAs. This enables higher concentration of acid for maximu results.

Step 1 - Cleanse MD Forte cleansing products are gentle yet effetive cleansers that wash away oil, makeup and surface debris without drying skin. All cleansers are free of soap and fragrance. Glycolic- free, soap-free foaming cleanser removes dirt, oil, and cosmetics without irritation. It is suitable for all skin types, especially for those who are using AHA products and desire a nonglycolic cleanser. Glycare Cleansing Gel consists of 15% glycolic compound, it cleanses and clarifies oily skin without stripping away the essential elements that are important to the skin's natural resilience. It is intended for extremely oily skin. In general it is recommended to advance to the next level only after using Level I or II for four to six months. Facial Cleanser I,II, OR III cleanses and clarifies skin without stripping essential elements important to skin's resilience. Replenish hydrating cleanser is suitable for all skin types. It is glycolic-free, soap free foaming cleanser. Glycare Cleansing Gel is recommended for extremely oily skin.

Step 2 - Renew MD Forte renewal products diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. After use, skin tone, softness, and smoothness improve to produce younger, healthier looking skin. MD Forte renewal creams are designed to renew damaged and dull-looking skin. Skin Rejuvenation Lotion I, II, OR III is ideal for most skin types. It contains vitamin A and vitamin E, an antioxidant that protects against future damage. Skin Rejuvenation Lotion I is ideal when beginning an AHA regimen or for sensitive skin. After using Skin Rejuvenation Lotion I, you can try move up to higher strength products. Skin Rejuvenation Lotion III contains retinol and vitamin C. Skin Rejuvenation Eye Cream is idea for all skin types and contact lens wearers, it visibly diminishes fine lines, wrinkles, and puffiness. It contains poly-vitamin-A complex, a combination of retinol, retinyl palmitate, and glycolic acid that work in combination with vitamin E. Facial Lotion I, II, OR III exfoliate surface skin cells. The lighweight nature of MD Forte renewal products makes them ideal alone or under makeup or in warm/humid climates. Glycare perfection gel clears up acne blemishes and occasional breakouts while exfoliating surface skin cells. Skin Rejuvenation Hydra-Masque clears up problem skin while exfoliating surface skin cells and instantly smoothes and hydrates skin. It contains Vitamin A for healthier looking skin and the antioxidant vitamin E to protect against future skin damage.

Step 3 - Hydrate MD Forte hydration products quench the skin's thirst for moisture to produce softer, more supple skin. Always use SPF 15 or greater sunscreen protectant in conjunction with glycolic acid based products to avoid an increase in sun sensitivity. Replenish Hydrating Cream is a combination of hydrolic acid and green tea which makes this glycolic- free moisturizer ideal for sensitive skin. The light formulation hydrates skin without clogging pores. Advanced Hydrating Complex Cream is idea for cold and dry climates and for both normal and dry skin. It is a hydrating cream that restores moisture for softer skin. Advanced Hydrating Complex gel is recommended for normal oily, or problem skin. This gel restores vital moisture.

Step 4 - Protect MD Forte skin protection products provide UVA/UVB protection for complete coverage against future skin damage. Total Daily Protector SPF 15 is designed for daily use. It provides a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection against sun exposure of the face, neck, chest, and hands. Its transparent zinc oxide provides superior protection, allantoin heals and soothes chaged and windburned skin, while vitamin E provides antioxidant defense against future skin damage. Aftercare Environmental Protection Cream SPF 30 is ideal for post glycolic acid peels and laser treatments. This cream provides higher levels of transparent zinc oxide and broad spectru UVA/UVB protection.
